Chapter Initiatives 2017-2018

Power to End Stroke

Power To End Stroke is an education and awareness campaign that embraces and celebrates the culture, energy, creativity and lifestyles of Americans. It unites people to help make an impact on the high incidence of stroke within their communities.

To promote awareness about stroke, SNPhA members will counsel on smoking cessation and the warning signs of stroke to members within the community.

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)

Each year, SNPhA incorporates this initiative into several events, including BP clinics, spreading CKD awareness on social media, and participating in walks. CKD is a chronic disease where the kidneys  cannot filter blood or wastes properly.  Millions of people are affected and can occur because of other common widespread conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease. In fact, 1 in 5 individuals with high blood pressure has CKD.

HIV/AIDS "Remember the Ribbon"

A nationwide project to improve health, education and social environment of minority communities with respect to HIV/AIDS awareness, education and prevention. Chapters will be awarded points based on outreach events promoting awareness.

For the past three years, SNPhA members have partnered with Walgreens for World AIDS Day. Students spread awareness about HIV/AIDS and the importance of safe relations and annual screenings.

Mental Illness and Substance Abuse

Become involved in pharmacy-related educational campaigns to improve sleep, reduce depression/anxiety, change language used related to different disorders, manage and identify substance use disorders, prevent overdoses, and understand medications and herbal supplements used in mental health.
